Julia & Sergio Sousa - October 4th 2008

Julia & Sergio hired us for the Month of Coordination.

We had worked with them before on designing their wedding invitations.

From the first time I meet this couple I knew they were special, they are so considerate towards one another and they are just incredibly happy together.

Everyone who participated in the Wedding did an absolute wonderful job.
Serafino Studios did an absolutely wonderful job, he is truly one of the most talented photographers that I have had the pleasure of working with. The flowers from Carisma Florists were nothing shy of perfection, there was not a single flaw the flowers were absolutely stunning, right out of a magazine. Father Richard from St. Peter's Parish was wonderful to work. Roma's Place had spectacular service and the food was absolutely perfect! The cake was from Dufflet Pastries so the name just says it all, PERFECTION! Westminster Ensemble did an excellent job at the ceremony and Main Attraction Entertainment keep everyone on the dance floor.

The day was absolutely perfect!

Church Policies

We find that many brides are not aware that most churches have policies concerning what can or cannot be done at a wedding. While your individual church will have its own rules and regulations, in general most churches have these guidelines in place. Typically a church will not allow permanently attached furniture to be moved. No thumbtacks or nails can be driven into the woodwork nor can anything be used to deface it. Saucers or mats must be placed under all palms or floral arrangements that rest on the floor. All arrangements for music, ceremony and decorations must be submitted and are subject to the approval of the priest, minister or church wedding coordinator. Floral arrangements or candles that must be taped to each pew are likely to be forbidden. The best rule is to remember that decorations should be kept to a minimum so as not to detract from the dignity of the sanctuary. The church may require that its organist be employed. The church may require that no pictures be taken during the ceremony – especially flash photos. Many would require that all fees be paid in cash prior to or at the rehearsal. And common sense dictates that no trash be left behind in the building and no alcoholic beverages be served or consumed in the building. If you have not been provided with a printed set of guidelines for the place you have chosen for your ceremony, be sure to ask for clarification. We are here to help you with all of the details surrounding your wedding ceremony.

YOUR ENGAGED - Now what?

Brides ask us about the best way to announcement their engagement. It is happy news and you'll want to share it with everyone.

Here are some helpful guidelines.
The first people to be told should be the bride's parents and both of you should be present to tell them in person. If they do not live nearby, an excited phone call from the bride to her parents is acceptable and then try to schedule a time for them to meet the groom if they have not met him. If the groom has not discussed his plans with his parents, they should be the next to know the big news.
Both sets of parents should get together for introductions, either in a home or a restaurant. This
gathering can be a time to talk about some of the wedding details like the number of guests and kind of wedding you two are planning.
After parents are informed, next you'll want to let close friends and relatives know. You may write or call them individually or you may wish to surprise them all at once and announce your news at a family gathering or party.
Engagement parties have traditionally been hosted by the bride's parents, but you and your finance may elect to host the party yourselves.
Once the date and some details have been agreed upon, an announcement, usually by the bride's parents may be published. Newspapers provide a form which is to be completed and submitted with an engagement photograph. The engagement is normally not announced prior to one year before the wedding and not later than six weeks ahead of the
ceremony date.
If you have other questions about your engagement be sure to see our experienced consultants for expert advice.

FAQ

What is a Wedding Planner?
A bridal or wedding planner is a professional whose training, expertise and contacts will help make your weddings as close to perfect as it possibly can be - and let you relax and enjoy your wedding.

Do I need a wedding consultant?
A professional wedding consultant will be a distinct asset as you plan your wedding. Wouldn't it be nice to spend time with your fiancé and your families, rather than worrying about all the details of your special day? In addition to helping make your wedding dreams come true within your budget - and perhaps saving you from costly mistakes - we will save you time. With so many brides and their parents working, we can handle much of the time-consuming, detailed planning for your wedding. As an unbiased third party, we can also help smooth all of those complex relationships in a modern family. You save time, reduce stress and concentrate on having fun as your wedding approaches. We will take care of the details, leaving you to simply enjoy the experience. And, on the wedding day, you can shine as the star, while we work behind the scene to make it all happen.

Can I afford a bridal consultant?
A wedding consultant should be part of your budget, not an extra expense. In fact, you often save money because we suggest less expensive alternatives that still enhance your wedding. We can often obtain discounts from suppliers. Above all, we will work with you to produce your dream wedding, all within your budget.

Do I need a contract with my consultant?
You should have some agreement in writing. A full contract is always supplied with every wedding we do at Luxury Events. It spells out exactly what we will do, as well as fees and a payment schedule.

When and how do we pay the fees?
Packages require a 50% retainer at contract signing, a second payment due midway between contract signing and the wedding day, and the final payment is due 10 days before the wedding. Consulting fees are paid in advance at contract signing. Luxury Events accepts Visa, MasterCard, cheques and cash.

Won't a wedding consultant want to run the whole show?
We will work with you, handling as much or as little of your wedding as you want. After all, it is your wedding. We are here to help you and your family - and make the day perfect.

Why can't I do the planning myself?
You certainly can do the planning yourself, and that sometimes is part of the fun. But, it can also be a hassle, checking out many sources for each vendor, making sure all the details are in place and worrying about whether you're getting the best deal - and whether everything will turn out all right. We have the training and experience to make it all work, while you relax.

How can I tell if a bridal consultant is providing a quality vendor?
Our reputation - and future business - depends on the quality of the services, including vendors, you receive. We are committed to providing the best possible wedding for the lowest possible cost. Besides, you are working with a budget, so our job is to keep you on budget. A satisfied bride is our best advertisement. So, it is to our benefit to recommend the best vendors for your budget.
